Youth riding
Youth lessons are for students in middle school and older. They ride the same horses in the same arenas as adults, and the coach teaches step by step to suit each student's build and experience.
Who can join
Students in middle school or older can start, even if they have never ridden. We do not run lessons for primary school children or younger, or pony rides.
When you apply, tell us the student's school year, height, weight and riding experience, and we will suggest a suitable horse and time.
How lessons work
Lessons are 45 minutes. Students first learn how to approach a horse, grooming and tacking up, then start at walk with the coach holding the horse. After that, progress follows the same order as adult lessons.
Step by step
Getting to know the horse
Wearing a helmet and safety vest, which direction to approach a horse from, and the order of grooming.
Walk and halt
With the coach's help, learning to walk, stop and change direction.
Trot
Getting used to the bounce of the trot through rising trot and sitting trot.
KRA Riding Proficiency Certification
Checking progress by earning each level in turn, starting from Level 7.
Preparing for student competitions
Guri Riding Grounds is a venue for Seoul student equestrian competitions. In April 2026, the equestrian events of the 43rd Seoul Youth Sports Festival and the Seoul Equestrian Federation President's Cup were held here.
The Seoul Equestrian Federation selects Seoul's representatives for the National Youth Sports Festival and the National Sports Festival. If competing is your goal, send us an inquiry and we will explain in detail. Coaching is led by a coach who has been on the national reserve team.
For parents
- Use a helmet made for riding, and wear a safety vest with it.
- Parents watch from outside the arena during lessons.
- Please help make sure students do not run or shout near the stables, and do not walk behind horses.
- Check with the coach before giving any treats.
