Belgian show jumper Pieter Devos won the Longines Global Champions Tour (LGCT) Grand Prix of Cairo in Egypt on 24 October (local time). The five-star (CSI5*) class was jumped at 1.60 m and was the fourteenth event of the 2026 tour, the second-to-last on the regular schedule. It was the first LGCT Grand Prix ever held in Cairo.

The result

Devos rode the 11-year-old mare Casual DV Z clear in both the first round and the jump-off (the deciding round for riders tied on faults), stopping the clock in the jump-off at 45.85 seconds. The mare was bred by Devos's own yard, Devos Stables. After the win, Devos said he and the mare had been on the LGCT podium six times this season, and that taking a horse he had bred himself from the very start to a Grand Prix win felt special.

Forty combinations started. Twelve riders reached the jump-off and seven of them went clear again. The leading places were:

  • 1st: Pieter Devos (Belgium), Casual DV Z, 45.85 seconds
  • 2nd: Olivier Philippaerts (Belgium), Hipster SV (a 10-year-old grey gelding), 46.31 seconds
  • 3rd: Ben Maher (Great Britain), Point Break (a 12-year-old stallion), 46.57 seconds
  • 4th: Niels Bruynseels (Belgium), Oaky Flandria, 48.82 seconds
  • 5th: Marco Kutscher (Germany), Pikeur Lemar NRW

The season so far and the standings

Devos had already reached the podium at the Valkenswaard and Rome Grands Prix this season, finishing second in Rome about two weeks ago. This win earns him a place in the LGCT Super Grand Prix, the season's final showpiece, which moves this year from Saudi Arabia to Verona, Italy.

Abdel Saïd of Belgium, who won the previous leg in Rome, had one fault in the first round and finished 13th, but he kept the overall lead with 245 points. Christian Ahlmann of Germany is second on 224 points and Max Kühner of Austria third on 208. Philippaerts moved up to fourth with 200 points, and Devos is ninth on 184.36.

What comes next

The next leg of the tour takes place in Rabat, Morocco, from 30 October to 1 November. The season final in Verona follows after that.
